CASTLE PARK

Castle Park is the historic core of Leicester, where the Romans, Saxons and Normans settled, where the medieval town flourished and where the industrial city was born.

Don't miss the tranquil beauty of Castle Gardens and the adjoining Riverside, the Saxon church of St. Nicholas, the Great Hall of the Norman Castle and nearby St. Mary de Castro, the medieval gateways, the impressive Cathedral and the dramatic Jain Center.

All this, plus four wonderful museums and a wide range of specialist shops make the area a must for visitors to Leicester.

BRADGATE PARK

Situated in the centre of the beautiful Bradgate Country Park, the comprehensive Visitors Centre relates the story of Lady Jane Grey [the nine day Queen of England] and has displays on the Parks history, geology, flora and fauna.

Extending to over 850 acres, Bradgate Park was created from the Charnwood Forest over 700 years ago as a hunting and deer park. There is evidence that the park was well enclosed by 1240, at the time of Simon de Montfort in the reign of Henry III.
